Karla D. Evans
Karla D. Evans, B.S. Pharm., completed her undergraduate studies at Howard University where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry in 1990.. She obtained her Pharmacy degree from the University of Maryland at Baltimore School of Pharmacy in 1993 and started her pharmacy career at the University of Maryland Medical Systems where she practiced as a Pediatric pharmacist. She also has practiced at Children’s National Medical Center as a Neonatal Clinical Pharmacist before entering into pharmacy management. She spent 6 years as the Pharmacy Operations Manager before leaving CNMC to work with Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc. as a Medical Liaison for the Neurology division. After 2 years in industry, she returned to acute care pharmacy practice at Anne Arundel Medical Center where she held the position of Pharmacy Manager for the Women’s and Children’s Pharmacy and the Operations Manager for Inpatient Pharmacy at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, Maryland. She is currently the Director of Pharmacy at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center. Ms. Evans is a preceptor for University of Maryland and Notre Dame Schools of Pharmacy and serves on Steering Committees for Pharmacy technician training programs throughout the state of Maryland and is a member of the newly created Maryland Society of Health Systems Pharmacist Pharmacy Technician Training Task Force. She also holds a position as Commissioner on the Maryland State Board of Pharmacy as an Acute Care Hospital representative.
Ms. Evans believes in coaching and mentoring. Her personal philosophy is: Share your personal journey to influence the path of others. The knowledge and wisdom that one gains is meant to be shared. She is a trustee and greeter at her church, Kingdom Life, Inc in Hyattsville, Maryland. She loves spending time with her family and friends and traveling. She has one young adult son whom she adores..
