Carroll Martin
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Outlear Smalls & Company
Carroll Martin is Chairman, CEO and founder of Outlear Smalls & Company, an investment bank that is the parent company of Outlear Capital Partners, LP (hedge fund), Outlear Equities, LP (private equity) and Outlear Properties, LP (real estate development).
Mr. Martin began his career with Citicorp in New York where he worked on structuring asset backed securities. Later, Mr. Martin moved to Deutsche Genossenschaft Bank, A.G. in Hong Kong and London where he specialized in currency and securities trading and structuring debt financing for investment grade corporate issuers. In 1997, Mr. Martin joined Hamilton Capital Markets, Inc. in Washington, D.C. where he was responsible for structuring assets backed securities for distribution in primary and secondary markets. Mr. Martin later served as C.F.O. of The National Medical Association.
Mr. Martin holds various industry-related licenses and certifications and has served on several Boards of Directors for nonprofit as well as for-profit companies.
Mr. Martin is also the Chairman and Founder of The Outlear Foundation; a private nonprofit organization dedicated to providing college scholarships to academically qualified students who are from socio-economically disadvantaged environments. The Outlear Scholars Program strives to transform students through immersion in the intellectual and practical experience and exposure to new and challenging environments. Its goal is to shape students into thoughtful, creative contributors to society – leaders prepared to contribute to the challenges of the world in which they live.
Carroll Martin holds a Master of Business Administration from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University and a Bachelors of Economics (Accounting, Mathematics minors) from Norfolk State University.
