Dr. Dawn M. Harvey-Owens

Pastor, Author, and International Speaker

Dr. Dawn Harvey’s life’s work is to Minister to, restore and develop the greatness in every person she encounters.

Accepting the call on her life in 2007, Dawn M. Harvey was ordained by the late Chief Apostle Ann Savannah, a tremendous woman of God and a true gift to the body of Christ. Operating in evidentiary gifts, Dr. Dawn strives to fulfill the call on her life by teaching, ministering, training and developing those that God has assigned, saved and winning the unsaved. She has a burning desire to win souls and annihilate the spirit of defeat. To preach God’s saving grace and disciple others to do the same.

Dr. Harvey has a heart for people. She is no stranger to the challenges and the struggles of life. At 15, she was diagnosed with uterine cancer. Although she was given a grim prognosis, she miraculously survived the surgery and went into remission. A few months later, the cancer returned in one of her lungs; and, by the time she was transferred to Duke University Medical Center, it had spread to her brain. It is her sincere belief that God healed her and saved her life. With that in mind, she is simply driven to make a difference and have an impact wherever God places her. She is fully committed to the assignment and call on her life, and takes great joy in the ministry that God has set before her.

Dr. Harvey has a massive heart for community outreach. Currently she facilitates 30 weekly food pickups and distributions sites through non-profits and churches in Prince George’s County, MD and Washington DC; feeding hundreds of people on the weekly basis. She also, facilitates a free, fresh food give away every Monday night in Suitland, Maryland. The program is called “The Gap Initiative,” which aims to serve the under privileged and aid individuals in transition, in between jobs, experiencing a health challenge or a crisis in their life. She does not believe that anyone should have to choose between purchasing medication and buying or having access to healthy food.

Dr. Dawn Harvey is a dedicated mother, a devoted friend and a consummate professional with over 30 years of corporate and professional experience. She was worked with notable companies such as Boddie Noell Enterprises, Marriott, Federal Express, Legal Shield, Sisters for Sisters, Inc., the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Transportation, HCDI, Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission and the National Organization of Black Women in Law Enforcement. She currently serves on the Advisory Board for Celestial Manna which distributes over 5,000,000 pounds of food a year. She previously served as the Co-Chair for the Prince George’s County Faith Based Advisory Board. She has repeatedly proven her ability to develop, enhance and improve not only corporations and non-profit organizations, but entrepreneurs, ministries, and individuals, as well. She has a proven track record in the implementation and strategic development vital to yielding impressive results.

Dr. Harvey is celebrating 13 years as the Senior Pastor of Destiny International Christian Center, and is looking forward to what God has in store for her and her ministry family in the coming years. She is the loving wife of Dr. C. Wesley Owens, and an encouraging and active mother to Destany and Emmanuel.
